Trillium Ridge has cultivated or wild tended over 60 species of native medicinal plants on 17 acres of land near the confluence of the Sauk and Skagit Rivers of Washington State. Trillium practices organic planting methods, low to no water landscapes aside from the naturally occurring rain of a temporate rainforest.
Our vision is to advance the interest and sustainability of integrating native medicinal plants in to restorative therapies- massage, herbalism, acupuncture, cultural and medical practices while advancing the restoration of indigenous plant habitat in the Pacific Northwest.
Trillium’s botanical offerings reflect the way the medicinal plants are growing- wild, in their natural habitat with thriving plant communities, bugs, birds and animals. We frequently see cougar, black bear, coyote, deer and elk with the bird song assuring that the land is diverse, clear and vital. Our botanicals are hand harvested with protocol by Erin who lives on the land and spends each day with the plants and environment. This connection enhances the products made right here on the land at Trillium.
Trillium’s education branch is one the longest running schools in herbalism in the PNW. Our primary medicinal plant training program offers more than 100 hours of instruction in herbal medicine teachings. All students learn about native and cultivated medicinals, plant identification, appropriate use, application, assessment, and various ways of using healing plants grown right here on the land. In addition, they learn integrative manual therapies , medicine making and gain confidence on how to provide care inside and outside a professional or personal practice.
When we begin to experience traditional practices, we often activate the ancestors in us who are familiar with the process and all the knowledge in our body wakes up. At Trillium, we have the opportunity to gather native plants specific to our needs, experience how communities of plants thrive in the right environment (much like humans, yes?) and prepare herbal therapeutic teas, hydrosols, tinctures, essences and oils.
About Erin Vanhee:
Erin grew up foraging and connecting with the plants in the PNW region with her grandmother, Corinne Kulicka (Prentiss). Her connection with knowing plants for healing began when she was adopted into the Tlingit tribe in southeast Alaska in her early 20’s and has continued to deepen with each layer of training and each day among the plants.
Erin’s training is primarily in Western Herbalism and massage licensure with a short stint in Acupuncture school, peppered with Wise Woman healing and wildcrafting apprenticeships. Her latest academic training in herbal medicine was with the Portland School of Herbal Wisdom in their Advanced Practitioners Training with Matthew Wood and Sean Donahue. This is where she completed her Somatic Herbalism credentials.
Erin is a licensed health care provider in Hawaii and Washington State. She graduated from Denton Massage School in Washington in 2006 and completed her Mastership Training on the island of Maui with Kumu Jeana Iwalani Naluai. She is a certified Clinical Mana Lomi practitioner and is in the process of completing advanced training with Kumu Maka’ala Yates, DC.
Erin’s distance learning programs focus on integrative care- combining herbs and bodywork. Her teaching style is relaxed yet fast-paced and story-driven.
In private practice, Erin supports the whole person through herbal consultation, expert bodywork and wildcrafted, small batch botanicals. She specialises in women’s health, pain and stress relief. She lives on an off-grid ridge above the Sauk River, where she is blessed with 17 pristine acres of wild land to tend to the plants and speak to the resident owls.

"A number of years ago I had the great honor to study with Erin Groh, NW herbalist extraordinaire. Throughout the herbal training program I learned about and came into contact with over 50 different species that grew right outside my door and on the land around me. Plants I once admired but did not know became alive and in communication with me. I began seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching each plant, getting to know it (and me, more deeply.) Learning when to harvest it, how to make medicine from it, and most of all, how to respect the natural habitat it grew in by ensuring I honored ethical wild crafting.
