About Us:

Trillium Herbal Medicine is an Integrated Clinic with an education branch in Skagit Valley, Washington. It all started in 1993 on Whidbey Island, WA under the name Fairewood Herbs, where founder Erin Vanhee, Herbalist, LMT was the first Organic Commercial Herb Growing business in the state of Washington and taught her first group of Herbal Apprentices. Since then, the name and location has changed, but the mission remains the same— connecting people with plants and themselves. Trillium Medicine alumni have gone on to start herbal businesses of their own, become leaders in the American Health & Wellness industry, and enrich their lives and others through plant medicine.

Our values:

  • Providing excellent, accessible herbal education through living classrooms and online with a focus on plant identification, Somatics, and folk herbalism.

  • Sovereign and sustainable access to food and medicine.

  • Self care and nutritional support through plant connection.

  • Relationship building with plants and the self through facilitating body and plant awareness.

About Erin Vanhee:

Erin Vanhee, LMT, Herbalist is a Somatic herbalist, Licensed Massage Therapist, and wild plant expert. She has been bringing plants and people together since 1993. For the past 28 years, she has been an advanced practitioner of herbal medicine in the Wise Woman tradition. She specializes in herbs for pain, Somatics, and Lomi Lomi massage.

Erin grew up foraging and connecting with the plants in the PNW region with her grandmother, Corinne Kulicka (Prentiss) She is Sami of Sapmi. (Lapland/Finnish)

Her connection with healing plants began when she was adopted into the Tlingit tribe in southeast Alaska in her early 20’s and has continued to deepen with each layer of herbalism training. Her latest academic training in herbal medicine was with the Portland School of Herbal Wisdom in their Advanced Practitioners Training with Matthew Wood and Sean Donahue. This is where she completed her Somatic Herbalism credentials.

Erin’s teaching style is relaxed yet fast-paced and story-driven. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of herbs and healing traditions and is passionate about environmental ethics and Earth conservation. She says she does this work to do one thing: to instill a deep love of plants and our incredible planet Earth. It is Erin’s belief that Love will heal all, including plant habitat.

In private practice, Erin primarily sees people dealing with pain and offers massage and private herbal consultations. She lives on an off-grid ridge above the Sauk River, where she is blessed with 17 pristine acres of wild land to tend to the plants and speak to the resident owls.

"A number of years ago I had the great honor to study with Erin Groh, NW herbalist extraordinaire. Throughout the herbal training program I learned about and came into contact with over 50 different species that grew right outside my door and on the land around me. Plants I once admired but did not know became alive and in communication with me. I began seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching each plant, getting to know it (and me, more deeply.) Learning when to harvest it, how to make medicine from it, and most of all, how to respect the natural habitat it grew in by ensuring I honored ethical wild crafting.
