Herbal Medicine MakingIn this day-long workshop, Herbalist and LMT Erin Vanhee teaches how to make herb infused salts, infusions, decoctions, syrups, oxymel and herbal tinctures.

Medicine Making follows the ancient tradition of using plants as nourishment and medicine. Fall is a great time to learn these traditional skills- fill your herbal medicine cabinet to support yourself, friends and family.

This workshop guides you step-by-step to make your own traditional herbal remedies.

Students will leave with their own medicines to take home. There is a small supply list.

No previous experience with plants necessary; this class is appropriate for beginner to advanced herbal students.

Location: Apothecary Wellness Center & Spa (320 E Fairhaven Ave, Burlington, WA)

Price: $125/person*

*Tuition includes in person training, all plant material used in class, extensive hand outs and samples. Students leave with medicines they make in class to complete at home.

Q: What does the course cover?

A: The course will begin with story-driven instruction from Erin Vanhee, Herbalist on the fundamentals of medicine making, including how to assess plant quality, and safety, ethics, and dosage of herbal medicine.

Then, the fun begins! The rest of the class will be step-by-step instruction and hands-on medicine making.

Q: What medicines are included in the course? Do I get to take mine home?

A: Yes, you do get to take your own medicine home! There is a small supply list. (see below)

We’ll be covering how to make your own herbal infusions, decoctions, and syrups, herbal salts made from fresh plants, herbal-infused vinegars to make mineral-rich meals and mocktails, and tinctures.

Supply list:

Please bring: 2-3 small jars with lids, 8 ounces apple cider vinegar, honey and brandy or vodka. Complete details will be sent upon registration.


About Your Instructor:

Erin Vanhee, Herbalist, LMT, Founder of Trillium Herbal Medicine has been an advanced practitioner of herbal medicine in the Wise Woman tradition for almost 30 years. She grew up in the Upper Skagit area of the Pacific Northwest, and grew up foraging and connecting with the plants of the region with her grandmother. Her connection with healing plants began when she was adopted into the Tlingit tribe in southeast Alaska in her early 20’s and has continued to deepen with each layer of herbalism training.

Erin was the first certified Organic grower of herbs in Washington State. As a medicinal plant specialist, Erin has taught groups of apprentices since 1993, and has been a speaker and teacher at Bastyr University, Pacific Women’s Herbal Conference, Three Rivers Herbal Gathering, the Northwest Herb Fair, AHG WA Chapter Green Gathering, and Planthealer’s Good Medicine Confluence. She teaches groups of students plant medicine in Skagit Valley, Washington.
