Valerian Root Tincture
Valerian Root Tincture
The roots of this Valerian are harvested from plants that have naturalised in a field on a ridge above the Sauk River. I tend to witness plants that have been allowed to naturalise (reseed in an area of their choice) - they have a free spirt about them that manifests in their medicine.
Valerian is a classic, popular herbal medicine for muscle tension and cramping. It is also a valuable sleep aid and stress reliever for the times where we need an extra strength sedative.
I have used this plant topically on tight muscles and internally as a remedy for relaxing the whole body. Start with 5-10 drops, build up to 60 drops, safely. The plant is rather unpleasant in aroma and does have a strong taste- but that’s’ the plant telling us that it is potent and we only need a small amount.
