FAQ’s about using your medical insurance:
My insurance representative said I do not need a referral. Why are you requiring a prescription?
Your insurance company will deny your claim without a prescription- the prescription contains your diagnosis. Some plans may not require a referral but all plans require a diagnosis in order to be processed.
I have a busy life and time constraints. Can I use my insurance for one visit?
Or- Can I come for medically necessary massage if I can only come one time or maybe once a month?
Your insurance covers medically necessary massage only. For a single massage therapy session- please use the self pay services menu.
Medically necessary massage responds best to frequent massage in the first 3-4 weeks. Erin is contracted to provide medically necessary massage in a timely manner - within your medical insurance guidelines.
Once you have completed the initial treatment plan- your treatment plan can be extended to once a month if your medical insurance allows for maintenance massage.
For occasional massage care- please see our self pay menu.
What is a typical treatment plan for my medical massage using my medical insurance?
Using your doctor’s prescription and diagnosis as a guideline- your first massage session includes an assessment and treatment recommendations.
A typical treatment plan includes 3-4 consecutive weeks of massage followed by every other week for another month.
How much is my co-pay and deductible? What is this going to cost if I come once a week?
Our office provides complimentary billing of your medical massage to your insurance company. We are contracted at a reduced cost to you as a service.
That said, it is your responsibility to know and understand your benefit plan. Typically- your co-pay is 10- 20 percent of the contracted rate that is paid to your massage provider.
All co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance are due at time of service.
I am interested in having herbal massage, aromatherapy and hot stones in my massage. Can I have that in a medical massage?
Medical massage does not allow for add on’s as they are against the medical insurance contracted guidelines. Medical insurance covers massage therapy only.
This seems like alot to process and understand. Can I just schedule a massage without having a referral, prescription and treatment plan?
Yes you can!
Please see the massage services page.
